Hospitalised Hitler.

Hitler with comrades (back row right, marked with an "x") in hospital uniform, 26 October 1916. Without wishing to intervene into the debate as to just how dangerous Hitler's particular role as a message runner was, I have to say that Hitler did walk the walk (or perhaps "run the run") in WW1. At the time when this 'photo was taken, he was recovering from a wound to his left leg/groin caused by a shell burst. He was certainly entitled to his Wound Badge in Black. One interesting point - this 'photo is attributed to Heinrich Hoffmann, an official photographer during WW1, who subsequently became Hitler's official photographer and is responsible from many familiar images of Hitler in later years. Best regards, JR.

Hitlers primary role was that of messenger. He and his fellow runners were not that loved by the other soldiers, probably out of envy.Runners did sleep in a bed and had enough food and drink(or better food and drink). That aside their job was certainly hazardous, artillery shells make no difference between frontlines and HQ’s miles behind the lines. Was Hitler a good soldier in WW1?I think he was.

Any imbecile that keeps trying to discredit Hitlers bravery and exposure to death have to be political hacks! Hating a man does not diminish his bravery under fire!

Your comment seems to be more inflamatory than a comment on the actual picture or the description posted, Hitler did his job the same as millions of others during WW1, no-one has posted anything derogatory about him on this picture ‘yet’.
