I don’t know, but it has been posted here before. Part of the amateurish mindset that Americans had early in the War. I believe the cartoon was realized as something of an embarrassment and was withdrawn by 1943 or 44.’ Mainly because, it was realized, that the Japanese pretty regularly wore their own uniforms making them very easy to spot…
I think the biggest problems that Americans or Brits may have had as far as telling the differences between Chinese troops and the IJA was the slim possibility that some ETO vets would confuse them with Germans, as they wore the German Stahlhelm helmet:
Most of them wore stuff like this.
Khaki uniform with mostly cap and greenish somewhat GI looking helmet.
whats halarious here is Americans perceived Japanese as having poor vision becasue of their narrow or slanted eyes…
