This battle was considered a German defensive victory. American losses were ~ 33,000 killed, wounded, captured while the Germans sustained 28,000 casualties. Lasting from September - December, 1944, it was then followed by the last major German offensive in the west by Unternehmen Wacht Am Rhein Operation Watch on the Rhine - Battle of the Bulge).
