So when destroyed like the M-113, just cannibalized for parts? Or, try to repair when so damaged?

Yes, normally, anything serviceable would be removed for reuse. This was usually done at a higher level of the Maintenance Organization depending on conditions at the time, and if it was possible for Maint. to recover the Vehicle .
