Japanese flag

I have recently inherited a Japanese flag that my great uncle aquired during the invasion of Okinawa. I am told he took it off a Japanese Army officer. I also received a Japanese Army binoculars with a case. The case has some Japanese characters signed on the strap.

I would like to preserve this flag and am wondering what the best way to do that would be. I would also like to get the signature on the strap translated. Any ideas?

Hi.

Maybe you should ask at this forum at the japanese militaria forum part:

A pic of the inscription would be helpful.

Thank you for the help!

I don’t have enough posts yet to add attachments. I’ll try later.

I think the best way is to spread on some naphthalene , to preserve to be eaten but some bugs and /ot put in the middle of two glass so like that will be preserved , because it is a very big sin to loose that relic
