For me, the quintessential Englishman - be he Officer, soldier or sailor - could not have been better portrayed by anyone better than Sir John Mills.
In such iconic English films as ‘Scot of the Antarctic’, ‘Ice Cold in Alex’, ‘Dunkirk’, ‘In which we serve’, ‘We Dive at Dawn’ to name but a few, Mills got it right regardless of rank or class of the character he played.
