Workhorse of the Luftwaffe but even when the Germans had total air superiority it was vulnerable and lost in large numbers - 1940 France and the Low Countries and 1941 Crete, by Stalingrad it was in an almost hopeless situation.

Used as a bomber in Spain - I do not know what its record was like there
