Thanks for the info, Colonel. Altogether about 10000 Germans and Austrians fought for Great Britain against the Third Reich, they were nicknamed "The King’s Most Loyal Enemy Aliens".
Ken Adams, Keith Adams. Real name Klaus Hugo Adam was born in Berlin Feb 05, 1921. The Adam family arrived in England in 1934 when Klaus was 13 years old. He was later to study architecture. Although he still held a German passport he was allowed entry into the RAF, being the only German national to serve in the Royal Air Force in WW2.He flew low-level attacks on Hawker Typhoons with 609 Squadron.
Post war he was assistant art director on many movies including Catain Horatio Hornblower (1950), Helen of Troy ((1956) Around the World in 80 Days (1960) and many others.He eventually moved to Hollywood and worked as a prominent set designer for films such as Dr. Strangelove, Goldfinger, Dr. No, and Diamonds are Forever.He was later to be granted British Citizenship and in 2003 he was Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and became SIR KEN ADAMS.
