Good afternoon.
I found this website through my travels on documenting my Grandfathers service in the Korean War. Not only is it a forgotten war but his unit has been effectively wiped off the map. He served with the 187th RCT a through a series of transfers he ended up with the 8081st army airborne quartermasters. They flew in C-119 “flying boxcars” and did arial resupply for the whole of the UN forces from 1950-1954 where they assisted the French in Indochina until the fall of Dien Bien Phu. I have many cutouts from their base newspaper called the “Ashiya Breeze”, photographs of their base, rigged equipment, supply drops, other aircraft, the men he served with and more. I have all of this information but I seem to be the only one to have it.
At this moment I would like to see if anyone may have anything regarding this unit or mentions of their support to other units. My goal is to preserve the memory and exploits of the men of the 8081st, lest they be forgotten.
