This is a true Bren Gun carrier, despite having the Bren gun replaced by a Boys Anti-tank Rifle. The name was applied by the general public to all variants of this class of vehicle, no matter what their function. Looking at the rear part of this vehicle, it lacks the high sides of the later Universal Carrier, (which was still called Bren Gun carrier).
