if you know more,add them,please.

Alot of those have been disbanded and amalgamated in the last 60 years (some even resurrected), they are only WW2 but I believe it will be comprehensive, bearing in mind its source so very little to add to it.

Good post

Ok, pedant mode on
Actually, wind-up aside, the Artist’s Rifles didn’t exist during WW2.
In 1939 the Artist’s Rifles became 163 Officer Cadet Training Unit, and the 56th Reconnaisance Regt turned down the Artist’s Rifles title in '42.
The Artist’s Rifles were reconstituted as a TA unit in 1947, before becoming 21st SAS six months later.

 , done,thank you

What exactly is the status of an OTC? They look like regiments to me (apart from the lack of manpower)
Commanded by a Colonel, has a WO1(RSM), divided into companies (or wings, depending) each commanded by a Major supported by a WO2(CSM) or equivalent.

Anyhoo, just wanted to boast that I have been entitled to wear a maroon stable belt in the past, although with a different buckle to the one you might expect.

OTCs actually are proper formed regiments and exist under the reserve order of battle, we have our own stable belt and distinctive cap badges. My unit even fought as a formed unit in the Boer war where it was wiped out. Although we are only cat B we can be called out for national emergencies on home soil (though whoever isssued such an order would have to be barking mad) like fire strikes, flood defence etc… and more recently our CO told us that had we been in our unit on the day of the bombings he would have sent us out there to help, nice…

As for manning we’re not that far off most TA inf regiments, my unit is 500+ but most are 2-400

You also forgot the Local Defence Volunteers, technicaly a fighting regiment (later refered to as the Home Guard aka dads army)

and the 17th Casteroil Dragoons.

And all of the Gurkha regiments.

Also for your reference

The Cheshire Regiment is not it’s name, and they would be jolly upset if you called them that.

There actual title is

The 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment of Foot. They refer to themselves as the 22nds not the Cheshires.

It is a source of great pride for them that they are one of only a handful of regiments that have never amalgamated in their entire history.

Until now.

Yes, i believe there is a little bit of hurt in their ranks.

Gurkhas were all Indian Army at the time.

Good point, but they were on our orbat, so the indian army should be up there too.
