Little known Battle: Battle of Narva

Impressive german defensive victory. with the germans holding out outnumbered 5 to 1 in men and 6 to 1 in panzers, destroying 150,000 russian troops and suffering only 20,000 men lost.

They also destroyed 400 soviet tanks for the loss of 60 panzers.

More notebly, this was accomplished by a high number of foreign SS volunteers from Northwest europe, like swedes, dutchmen, and norwegians.

well, a lot of people know german as a second language. Also, there were german officers and ncos permeating through all the foreign units, so the german element was there.

The “nordic” SS fought as well as german units, which is interesting.

mmm 400 soviet tanks lost, too bad the soviets could build that in a day, and it would take the Germans a week to build 60 panzers. And how easily could the Soviets replace troops as this point compared to the Germans. 20,000 troops lost was a big blow at this point in the war for Germany.
