It’s a photo of a U.S. GI holding a dead girl in his arms, her face is completely destroyed, she has no eyes. There’s bricks and rubble all around, the GI is looking solemnly down. I think it was taken during the Italian campaign. I saw it a lot a long time ago, and now I cannot find it on the internet, please help! It’s not in the dramatic photos on this website either.
I found the picture in a book, it says “Trooper from the 82nd Airborne Division tenderly removes the shell-torn body of a little Norman girl from the ruins of St. Sauveur.” Still can’t find it on the internet though.
