Hm well i guess i can give you the basics. The german attacked the Soviet Union on the 22nd of june 41. The attacked in 3 groups (North, Middle, South) numbering 1 million men. At first they had increible success using there blitzkerg methods. They level city after city including brest, Kiev, Smolensk, they destroyed russian aircraft and tank by the hundreds, many of them undefended, they captured POW’s by the hundreds of thousands. Because the german groups moved away from eachother as they advanced (againest the wishes of many german generals) the advance began to slow down due to supply problems and russian resistance. Later that year the russian were abale to hold onto moscow in a long fierce battle. The followinng year the germans planned to attack stalingrad with some 250,000 troops to btreak the soviets back by gaining access to the oil fields, and other states east of stalingrad. After a terrible battle the remains of stalingrad was in soviet hands. They began to push westward, the germans suffered huge loses at the battle of kursk(1943), they lost many thousands of tanks that they could not replace like the soviets. After that point if was just a slow push towards berlin. So overall this front can be compared to the american/japanese front, both nations (america,sovier union) were attacked unsuspectingly and suffered loses at the beginning of the war (not so much as the americans) but the basics of it was that germany and the japanese attacked countries with massive idustries that were just ill prepared at the beginning of the war. So slowly the tide in both wars turned to the countries that could muster the most troops, build the most equipment, and supply them. A problem that both the japanese and germans had a problem with.
