Wow, that’s a lot of ‘improvised’ armor add ons. Looks like it was Tigers and Panthers against the Junk Yard Dog.

A tank destroyer is one of the last vehicles I’d want to be rolling through hedgerows with. The open tops made crewmen target practice for German snipers in trees or berm walls. :frowning: The inappropriate, unintended use for them as essentially infantry tanks shows the futility of the US Tank Destroyer Doctrine, and those that vainly held onto it as dogma like Gen. McNair at USAGFC…
