I believe the 6th Army, as a whole, had a bit over a million men at the start of the campaign. But not all of those were actually in Stalingrad itself. I don’t know anything either way about any SS units being involved, and don’t feel especially inclined to look it up…

There were not a million Germans at Stalingrad and of those that were there none were Waffen SS units.

These are Waffen-SS soldiers, and they did not fight at Stalingrad
