Hồ Chí Minh fought along side the Allies against the Japanese. The French worked with the Japanese and Hồ Chí Minh was promised Vietnam would be a free independent country. Instead the Allies gave Vietnam back to the French after the war even though they sided with the Japanese and Hồ Chí Minh fought with the Allies to defeat the Japanese.
