Mortar fire

Again a photo found on fb but without any info.I'm just guessing but seeing the surroundings it could be Bocage country.Mortarcrew firing for support of an attack?Perhaps someone in here knows about this photo.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.ww2incolor.com/gallery/us-army/55916/mortar-fire

The best I could find is it’s an undated photo of a 81mm mortar team of the Third Infantry Division. The corporal is getting corrections by his field phone.

Thanks,so no bocage. The 3th landed on august 15th in St-Tropez and fought it’s way up through the Rhône valley, the Vosges mountains and reached the Rhine at Strasbourg
