Need help identifying WW1 era uniform

Hello,
I have created a site where people can upload photos of unknown old photographs in hopes that site visitors can help solve the photo mysteries.

Today we launched the site for the first time and already someone has uploaded a photo of what appears to be a WW1 soldier in uniform. But, we don’t know anything about the photo. What nationality is this? Is it indeed WW1 era?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Would be nice to have it posted on the other site so the uploader can be notified.

This litho style photo looks more 19th century-ish to me.

Bayonet could be a French Model 1892 so possibly your man is a French soldier.

If it means anything, my grandmother’s ancestors were German (although grandfather was Polish).
