These pictures were taken in 1945 during WWII from a sailor who was aboard a transport ship during Operation Magic Carpet. He has no information on any of his photos so I am trying to go by whats in the photos to identify where he traveled. Can anyone tell me if you recognize these locations or what this language reads on the signs? Thanks.

I believe I have narrowed it down to three locations. Those are Hong Kong, Chingwangtao or Tsingtao. The last two are in China. The building photo is also located next to water as there are docks in similar photos I have. Also in other photos, there are Chinese and South Korean flags being held by groups at a peaceful gathering. Please if anyone can help and read the words, I am sure the mystery would clear up fast with google. I can send better pics if you need them. Thanks
