Trying to track a man named William Badeker. He appears on the muster list for Newport Barracks Kentucky in Oct 1855, shortly before official Civil War. He was 6th infantry. I can’t find anything else such as enrollment or where he was from. Would he have been in Indian war? He does not appear on any census etc anywhere else. Was the government careful about name spellings etc at this time in history?
