The Hungarian-made Nimrod was an effective weapon against low flying aircraft, given its Bofors style 40mm automatic cannon. If pressed into service against tanks, that was another story… Good coloring!

Not the best AT weapon especially against the T34 or KV/IS tanks.

It was capable against the lighter armour and older tanks BT, T28, T26, T50/60/70/80, at a respectable range.

As a note the Bofors 40mm AP round could penetrate a Panthers side hull and turret armour at over 500m (US Army testing).

The Bofors on a Nimrod could fire AP at a rate of 120 rounds per minute, with a penetration of 46mm at 100m and 30mm at 1km. Late in the war, the Nimrod was issued with the 42M "Kerngranate" round. This was a rocket grenade fitted over the muzzle in the fashion of a rifle grenade.
