I am buying the collection of a Lt. in the 81st Chemical Mortar Battalion and have come across a piece that I can find nothing about. There were two German zeltbahns. Both are camo. The one is the normal version with buttons up and down the sides. The other one has all the same gromets and same size and all but it does not have buttons. This seems odd since those were necessary for using it as a poncho etc. Anyone else heard of something like this? Is it just an odd late war variant? I guess it is possible that it was not finished and he helped capture a factory or something. There are no marks on it whatsoever. I will try to post some pictures later.
