Is it me or does the officer on the left look like he could be a US Army Airborne officer circa 1942-44?

@Nickfresh; The German fallschirmjager jump smock does have an uncanny resemblance to the long US paratrooper shirt with the long, deep pockets for stuffing all kinds of items needed in combat.
