I noticed different contradictionary uses of the term “olive drab”.
On wiki olive drab is described as a more greenish olive tint, where olive green is yellow brownish olive, a dark yellow.
The official camouflage colour however on vehicles was strictly defined “olive drab”, being yellowish olive (a simple dark blend chromium yellow and black). Germans called the post-war drab NATO olive or Gelbolive (yellow olive), again referring to dark yellow, exactly describing the technical origin. Olive green is then the faint dark green as used on uniforms.
Is it a part of the “Khaki wars”?
In my eyes it is not, since khaki is directly to be found in US army tint “field drab”.
And please, if existant, link me to a thread which handles on the subject
