This is contemporary to “Unbroken” and in the early part, relates to the operation of HMS Upholder, a sister ship of the same class as Unbroken, and of which E. Young was then First Officer.
It may be interesting to an American reader to “see” the Royal Navy at sea, in much smaller submarines, travelling further than the US subs were, in some cases.
Young’s writing style is gently droll, with more than an element of humour, and much humanity to it.
