Orde Wingate and the Chindits in Burma

“It is because I am what I am,
objectionable though that
appears to my critics,
that I win battles.”
Orde Wingate

Wingate was constantly surrounded by controvesy, much of it because of petty jealousies of some of his superiors and their inability to understand the nature of his strategy.

Even his death remains controvercial: The explains the somewhat macabre reason he was interred at Arlington, Virginia.
