Painting a Lightning

Tunisia, June 1943, likely Mateur Airfield or Djedeida Airfield: final painting of the "The Bat Out Of Hell", the Lockheed P-38F-1-LO "Lightning" #41-7525 s/n 222-5652 of the Lt. James Hagenback, USAAF’s 94th Fighter Squadron. Notice the weapons barrel covered by paper and adhesive tape for protection against the paint’s spurt. The 94th FS was committed in the Operation Torch and afterwards fought against the Axis forces in Algeria and Tunisia before, end 1943, his deployment in Italy. Victor Sierra
