PANZER

Can anyone, FTG? Identify the unit insignia on the tank? Got this from same source as Sturmgeshutze photo.

I.Abteilung/Fallschirm-Panzer-Regiment “Hermann Göring”. If you look carefully you can see the Luftwaffe eagle on the crew’s caps. The tank’s commander in the turret (wearing a Knight’s Cross) would be the later Lieutenant Colonel, Oakleaf holder and commander of Fallschirm-Panzer-Regiment “Hermann Göring”, Karl Rossmann (1916-2002). Note that the tank (Panther Ausf. G, serial number 121081) is painted in the rare “disc pattern” which means your picture was taken not earlier than autumn 1944. Nice photo you got there!

A heavy tank of the Luftwaffe. Never expected to see that.

Thank You Flamethrowerguy! I knew if anyone could help me it would be you! I purchased a number of photos from the same source, they were apparantly file photos captured by the Soviets at the end of the war.
