Good point, EH. I have often wondered myself - especially since the thing was, to most people, obsolete before the first one rolled off the production line. Mind you, vehicles like this, and earlier Pz Kpfw models, were still trundling around Russia acting as tractors as late as 1944; they were even pressed into battle when the need arose. Mind you, the Germans were prone to losing the plot when it came to armoured vehicle production. Who, for example, would expend resources in developing and constructing a painfully slow, gas-guzzling 80 metric ton "tank destroyer" of complex design, inadequate engine power and delicate transmission and track system, at a time when their country was short of manufacturing resources and very, very short of fuel ? Well … the Jagdtiger comes to mind … Best regards, JR.

Why would this even have been made? Seriously what were German engineers thinking? lets make a mobile machine gun! WITH 80MM OF ARMOR, BETTER THAN OUR MAIN BATTLE TANK!!!
