Commander is wearing the "trademark" leather jacket of the "HJ". These were either surplus manufacture of U-Boat leather jackets, or specially made for the Division. The latter can be distinguished from the former by their metal buttons - the U-Boat originals had buttons made from Bakelite (an old-fashioned "thermohardening" plastic material), that would not cause static electricity sparks in the volatile environment of a u-boar.
