Never seen this before.
Any comments?
Hmmm, I’ve heard of it, but never seen it. Many thanks VonWeyer and welcome to the site.
For any modellers out there, this photo probably proves the theory-there is a prototype for everything.
Regards to all,
Digger.
The aircraft was an Bucker Jungmann trainer, the weapons were fired using a wire wich was pulled from inside the cockpit. rather crude, this light aircrfat operated mostly at night is some specialy formed panzerjagdkommandos.
It was an experiment that involved a Bucker Bu 181 Bestmannm, not sure whether any were used in service?

That is correct not “jungmann” as I said.
The first invention for the germans of rockets attached on planes.
Thanx for your feedback guys.
I wonder how accurate it was?
A cool idea but dont see it being worth a bucket of cold spit. Sure the panzerfaust had a good range and accuracy from an infantry level but from a plane perspective I would have to say they were reaching. To use these effectively you would have to be Hans Rudel.
I think at the time this was desperate attempt to get some anti-tank fire from the sky, they were sort of Stukas!
It was desperate indeed, the accuracy wasnt good, the Panzerfaust were fired at the same time and at short distance for increce the chances of some hits.
A far more acaurate weapon was the Panzerschreck proyectiles adapted for aircrafts, some were used in The FW-190F-8, I have no pics of that now, but I going to post some.
What an absolutely crazy idea. A Panzerfaust’s range was at max 180 meters I think?
Absolutely no chance of killing anything with this weapon system from the air!!!
Shows how desperate things were at the end.
Well, teorically in a dive and aproaching near enough you have some chances, the main problem was the relative low velocity of the Pzsf 100 only 65 m/s.
This are a pack of 4 Panzerschreck attached below the Fw-190F-8 wing.
There is no way in hell that I would test this son of a bitch. The plane in the First post is a BU-181 which had a top speed of 200km/h with a threshold of 340km/h. The average muzzle velocity of the panzerfaust is about 60m/s or 216km/hr. So basically if you were lucky enough to launch these past the plane (which seems doubtful coz the aerodynamic properties of the Panzerfaust would be very unpredictable at this speed) you would then need to get the hell out of the way coz the max range is about 100-150 meters. Maybe this was an idea for a suicide bomber. Oh and would like to mention that the majority of the plane consists of wood and fabric.
Just out of curiosity, is that the plane that the two blokes use to try to escape near the end of the movie in The Great Escape? The canopy looks similar to me, so that’s why I’m asking.
I think it was Bu181! Though it may have been a Bf108?
Like it was stated earlier this was a trainer plane. So would be a good suspect. But IMO I think it is the same plane. Havent seen The Great Escape in awhile but I do remember (I think?) that they were seated next to each other.
