We have a serious budgetary problem with the ratio of tax money that goes to the military. We cannot keep funding the military at 40% of the entire federal budget. We could fund it at 32-35%, and still have a top notch military. The sooner we wrap it up in Afganistan, the sooner we can get a better handle on the federal budget.

According to this site his figures seem to be a tadge off.
