Piper Bill Millin, who piped Lord Lovat's Commandos ashore on D-Day and when they reinforced Major Howards men at Pegasus Bridge has passed away at the age of 88.

Piper Millin died on 18 August, 2010. On D-Day Millin was a 21 year old member of the 1st Special Service Brigade that landed at Sword Beach. Among the songs he played that day were "Highland Laddie" and "Road To The Isles." This picture shows him entertaining the troops shortly after the Normandy landing. It appears in the obituary section of the New York Times for 20 August, 2010.
