Pribor-3B Meroka Carbine

Anyone here seen this meroka rifle before?

That looks terribly interesting, tell me more.

The only weapon Meroka I know is some weird CIWS defense system made in Spain.

Wow! Triple Barreld SMG? Something tells me it jammed quite often…

Looks somewhat similiar to a German MP5. You’ll probably disagree though…

Actually Meroka, from German Mehrrohrkanone, means multi-barrelled gun.

The Pribor-3B was a three barreled rifle and was the Russian answer to the U.S. Project SALVO (back in 1952) rifle programme (3 or 5 barrels). German A. Korobev (no, it’s not a German, it’s his name) was the designer.

Developed in the 60’s, it was a bullpup rifle and took the 7.62x39 round.

Pictures above are from Tula Weapons Museum in Tula, Russia. Our Russian friends might help us with more info.

Edited: Some info on SALVO might be found here: http://www.thegunzone.com/556dw.html by checking on 1952 and 1953.

Found out somewhere that the brass ejects behind the magazine area, The recoil force is quite powerful it drives the bolt well far back against a buffer. The Pribor-3B’s operation is related to the AN-94 Abakan rifle.
