In your opinion, which tank was better (better armoured, stronger, etc)? PzKw III series or BT series?
For Komissar Ombrok: For continuing our discussion from http://www.ww2incolor.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1219#1219 , I have serious doubts that for PzKw III the figures shown are real.
E.G. Most of PzkW III have 300 hp engine (I have to check on early versions). The armour protection is 30 mm on early models.
First models of PzKw III have a armor 15 mm. 30 mm was made in a Feb. of 1941 for avoid Russin 45-mm anti-tank gun, but that was useeless, and slow PzKw-IV to medium speed 15-17 km/h. New engine began to place in that date too… Before was used 250 h.p. And that was not diesel engine, not 250 h.p, not 300 h.p. And this type of engine is very weak to fire.
PzKw III Ausf A was first made in 1937.
PzKW III Ausf D (means 4th version - with 30 mm armour!!!) with was first made in 1938

In 1940 it was made PzKw III Ausf H (with max 60 mm armour).

Also the speed indicated by you is wrong.
About BT, check the armour!!!

I agree with you in ideea that BT are faster than PzKw III, but that’s all.
Also I take notice about datas of BTs from a Russian site:

Sorry mate, PzKw III was better than BT… (Please don’t tell me once again about the numbers built or about the costs   )
We could also argue on JS vs King Tiger if you want. Maybe JS-2 was better, who knows?
Hmm… Strange info… Really strange. The info about BT is wrong absolutely. When I was student of BGTU, we studied them and I and all my group personally have a ride on the BT-7 1937 y. with 25 mm armor. But this was official point of Soviet to hide the real information about tehnics and show to the world prototypes or light models. For example, the T-34 tank was showed to the world in model with 12-mm armor in 1938 y. (when Red Army had more 1.000 that normal tanks) But war covered up the true power of T-34 and info was opened.
About PzKw III - I know about 60-mm armor models, but from my my information the year of production this tanks was after beginning war with Soviet. And that was more like stationary bunkers than tanks, because the germans don’t change the track size, and presure to ground was huge.

Do you think you can find those books?

So they start to build PzKw IV…
