Hope I haven’t missed this one, looked ‘poll’ each time so…
No-one else seen this? Kenneth More, C.B.E, playing one of our greatest heroes. Group Captain Sir Douglas Robert Steuart Bader, CBE, DSO & Bar, DFC & bar, FRAeS, DL, RAF!
Lost his legs in an accident (of his own making admittedly), went on to become a WW2 ace despite (or maybe even because of) his disability!
Great performance by Mr.More, great dog fighting footage, one heck of a story to boot.
“When I want your advice on manners I’ll ask you, til then - shut up!”
(I think that’s the line - he says it to one of his Jerry guards!)
I saw it as when I was a kid.
Thought it was absolutely spiffing, old chap.
I have very happy memories of watching this film with my late grandfather, who was a WWII RAF veteran.
I have far too much sentimental attachment to it to spot any flaws
