Reggiane Re.2000 in color

Original color photo of an Italian fighter Reggiane Re.2000 in servicing under the cover of wall shields in a Sicilian airfield perhaps in Summer 1941. Refused by Regia Aeronautica, which unacknowledged some solutions proposed by its designer, ing. Longhi, which had a long experience in United States with Seversky, the Re.2000 had success in Sweden and Hungary. Only some forty exemplars of Re.2000 Series I and Series III were built for Regia Aeronautica and assigned first to Squadriglie in Sicily and Pantelleria from Spring 1941 to Summer 1942. Some were also used as catapulting fighters over the battleships.
