Reggiane Re.2000 in color
Original color photo of an Italian fighter Reggiane Re.2000 in servicing under the cover of wall shields in a Sicilian airfield perhaps in Summer 1941. Refused by Regia Aeronautica, which unacknowledged some solutions proposed by its designer, ing. Longhi, which had a long experience in United States with Seversky, the Re.2000 had success in Sweden and Hungary. Only some forty exemplars of Re.2000 Series I and Series III were built for Regia Aeronautica and assigned first to Squadriglie in Sicily and Pantelleria from Spring 1941 to Summer 1942.
