Saipan 1941-1944

My father was on Saipan during WWII. He was a Sea Bee and built airstrips for the B-29’s… His Name is Leo Stierer… Does anyone have parents who were there and my know him ? He is 89 now and I would love to reunite him with a buddy or two before he goes.:army:

Here is a picture of my dad on saipan.

Jeez, did he build these airstrips all by himself?

You mean Saipan?

After the war my father lived in Chicago, where he became Mr. Chicago in 1946.

Here are some other pictures from Saipan.

My Father was Petty Officer 1st Class Manuel F. Rosa also called Manny or Pete. He was a Seabee on Saipan. I have photos of Saipan and of him and his buddies. They are in storage in Miami FL, but I will get them the next time I go to Miami and scan them. If your dad is still alive, could you please ask him if he knew my Dad. He was from New Bedford and Dartmouth, Massachusetts. My Dad passed years ago in 1974. Tell him my Dad and his buddies built a Catamaran from the parts of the bombers and the native woods. My Dad was in charge of the PAINT SHOP. I would love to get to know you and your Dad. I am Pete Rosa, SMSgt (E-8), USAF, Retired Email: rosapj@AOL.com or Cell: 941-266-3211
