Shattered Swords

I spoke to the author of the upcoming book, Shattered Swords, today. He mentioned that the book is still due to come out before the end of the year. Here’s a little info about the book, including ordering information:

I’ve read the first section to the book (perks for being a friend  ) and it looks REALLY promising. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy myself! Hope you guys would check it out also.

(EDIT: Updated link to show ordering information)

The author Jon Parshall just informed me a few days ago that he sent out a newsletter to those who are looking forward to the release of the book. The newsletter is, in part, follows:

Thanks to everyone who has signed up for updates on “Shattered Sword: The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway.”… First off, the book production is going very well. In fact, it is going to press tomorrow, Sept. 20. We’re on a 4-week production schedule, and this means that in all likelihood (knock wood) “Shattered Sword” will easily make its November release date. Second, “Shattered Sword” is now widely available for pre-order. You can find it on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Booksamillion.com, and Powells.com by simply searching for “Shattered Sword.” You can also order it directly from the publisher at Potomacbooksinc.com

Again, Tony and I sincerely thank you for your interest in “Shattered
Sword.” I will be sending out one final notice when it becomes
available–feel free to continue checking for updates on the web site as
well. But it won’t be long now!

Very Best Wishes,

-jon parshall-

You can now also download the introduction to the book here:

This will help me support my WW2DB website. Thanks

Shattered Sword is published!!! I’ve got my copy today and it looks wonderful. The book has a good weight, I think I’m going to have to say it’s the meatiest book I’ve purchased in a while; at Amazon’s $25ish price it just screams of a great buy on size alone. The paper is ultra bright, and translates to ultra nice. The maps and pictures look nice in the book, seems to have been inserted nicely as part of the book (as opposed to the usual practice of putting all the photos in the very center of the book, almost as a useless “intermission”).

Really impressed with book on face value alone. I’m sure the content will be even more impresive!

What size is the book ?
How many pages ?
Are there any original colour photographs ?

568 pages in the main part of the book; 600 pages if you include the appendix and index.

No color photographs.

Well, pictures don’t matter as long as it’s a promising book. Ill be sure to pick up a copy soon.

Thanks Temujin.
