Do you have any more information on Simo Hayha? Did he recieve a facial injury in battle? If so, one thing that stands out is what incredible advancements in the treatment of wounds had taken place from the Great War to the 1940s. A search on the web for WWI’s “men with broken faces,” would attest with earlier societies’ inability to treat facial wounds and burns with but the most primitive methods, including masks…Before I get too ahead of myself, I honestly know nothing about this man, I just have assumed that this was the case…please do shed light if you have information…
