intresting type of german camouflage never seen of it, looks like similar with the usmc camo

A very similar pattern was also worn by U.S. Army units in limited numbers in Normandy. The uniforms were abandoned after friendly fire incidents became numerous due to the confusion. We have a thread on it somewhere. There is a very outside possibility this German sniper might have been wearing a captured American suit…

The 1942 Army camo uniform was issued to elements of the 2nd and 3rd Infantry Divs, the 17th Engineer Bn, and elements of the 41st Armored Infantry Regt. from the 2nd Armored Division. The problem was the mindset "anyone in a camouflaged uniform was SS" resulting these units having many friendly fire incidents. So the uniforms were withdrawn.

This info can be found in the Osprey book: The U.S Army in World War II by Henry and Chappell, Blandford’s Army Uniforms of World War 2 by Mollo and McGregor, and Stanton’s U.S. Army Uniforms of World War II plus others.(comment by Paul Henson/Axishistory.com)
