This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://ww2incolor.com/gallery/colorizations/22352/soviet-soldier

The Protivo Tankovoye Ruzhyo Degtyaryova(PTRD-41)was an anti-tank rifle that was used by the Russian Red Army during WW2 from early 1941. It was a single shot weapon and fired a 14.5x114mm tungsten core round. it was not able to pierce the frontal armour of German tanks but was very effective against the thinner sides of early German tanks and self propelled guns. The 14.5mm armoured piercing round had a muzzle velocity of 1012m/s and could penetrate armour up to 35/40mm thick at a distance of 100 mts. The PTRD was eventually replaced by the RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) series of anti-tank rocket launchers. Hope that this is some help in identifying this weapon.
