Is the game about winning, or is it about the game?
After watching England’s defeat at the hands of Scotland, yesterday, I have to say I don’t mind, so much, the losing, but the way in which it was lost.
If a team goes out and plays hard and gives us an entertaining and exciting game, is that not enough in itself, can the team not then leave the pitch with its collective head held high knowing that it has produced a good afternoon’s entertainment? Naturally, we all want our teams to win and there has to be some pressure to do so in order for it to happen.
After yesterday’s performance, I felt I could have been more excited playing with myself. Naturally, Scotland were excited to win, and who can blame them, but the game was rubbish.
To rub salt into the wound, Wales beat Ireland (my second favourite team). I didn’t get to see that one, and can only hope that it was a better game.
