submarine commander Takakazu Kinashi, He is noted for the sinking of the American aircraft carrier USS Wasp and destroyer USS O'Brien and severely damaging the battleship USS North Carolina with a single spread of six torpedoes as captain of the I-19 in september 1942, on March 11, 1944. While his crew rested in France, Kinashi travelled on to Berlin where he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class personally by Adolf Hitler for his role in sinking Wasp.

This guy looks young,for a commander.The interesting part is a Japanese sub docked in France,1944 and this guy going of to Berlin to receive the Iron Cross 2nd class.
