Survivors

When Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother died, I remember commenting that the last major personnage of World War II had died. But was she the last?

Can anyone think of someone who, in some way, participated in the war–be they in politics, military, or entertainment?

Dame Vera Lynn, at 90, is still with us. She, along with Churchill, had one of the most recognized voices of the era and entertained our troops.

Mickey Rooney–89, I think–is still here, but is he a candidate? I know he entered the service in 1943, but he’s not known for entertaining the troops, although he probably did.
