It looks like one variant of the Marder.
Sometimes the Germans would take part of one thing, and put them together with a hull or chassis of another thing, and make an extempory weapon of it. The closest I could come to a bonafide production vehicle was the Wespe, though it doesnt look exactly like the photo. there is another pic of some vehicle, but it looks like a cobbled together thing, maybe that is it, dont know. My resources are limited on this type machine.
Wespe or Marder variant I think, plumping for Wespe though.

i think the comment about a training tank in US army was likely the closest…or maybe a hollywood mock-up for a movie. note that the driver is wearing a US style tankers helmet.
