Technacal grades

i was having a discusion with some people and one of them brought up the quetion.

Is a Technician Grade 5/4/3 the same as Technical corporal, technical sargent, and technical staff sargent?

yes…the tech grades were a way of showing those soldiers with specialized skills,i.e. radioman, medic, etc.they earned more money than a regular grade at the same level but were considered lower in rank in the field than their “hard stripe” equivalents.

September 1942- July 1948:

So what was did a grade 2 tech sgt do?

Technical Sergeant is not the same as Technician 4th Class which is under the same pay grade as Sergeant.

Technician 4th Class is an E-4, while Technical Sergeant is an E-2.

That chart is correct, but only until the date you posted above it. The source you got it from even says. In 1942, First Sergeant and Master Sergeant were reversed and both put under E-1. So that chart is only correct before Sept. 1942.
