Terrorist plot in the UK

BBC:

A plot to blow up planes in flight from the UK to the US and commit “mass murder on an unimaginable scale” has been disrupted, Scotland Yard has said.
It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled in hand luggage on to as many as 10 aircraft.

Police were searching premises with 21 people in custody after arrests in the London area and West Midlands.

High security is causing delays at all UK airports. The threat level to the UK has been raised by MI5 to critical.

According to MI5’s website, critical threat level - the highest - means “an attack is expected imminently and indicates an extremely high level of threat to the UK”.

Heathrow Airport has been closed to all incoming flights that are not already in the air, while several outbound services have been cancelled.

The airport is crammed with thousands of passengers, while at Stansted more than 2,000 people are queuing to pass through customs.

Ray Watson figured the ban on carrying liquids onto flights would prove a boon for one industry: makers of toiletries.
“I can’t imagine all the millions of dollars that the Colgate-Palmolives are going to reap from this,” said Watson, 40, of Denver, as he waited to pick up his luggage at Los Angeles International Airport. “The Dumpsters in Phoenix were filled with shampoo and toothpaste.”

Unfortunately I do not think you can get foreign news for subjudicy. Home Sec was very clear about this on Wednesday but the US are not taking any notice. Same as Bush being told by Blair “no leaks”.

As for us Australians travelling for 22 or more hours without toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shaver etc. make travelling such humiliating and miserable experience, that I opt for driving up the coast on my next holiday.
Bugger Europe and cheap beer…
I know that anything is better than dropping into the ocean because of some psycho having petrol instead of scotch in his duty free bag, but soon passengers will travel naked and shackled to the seats.
Good 'ol times are gone forever…

I’m glad this plot was foiled, it would have been 1000s dead. I’m lucky because I’m not flying again until the end of October, so I hope the restrictions are lifted by then.

I know the feeling seems like this shit happens around the time I get ready to cross the atlantic. If they are not fking up my country(or allies of my country) then they are fking up my flight plans. Damn terrorists.
