Helloy guys.
Right now i’m pleying in the excellent air simulator “IL-2:forgotten battles”,
This is the one of the best IMO in its genre. More then 100 virtual aircrafts which you can piloted. The game include the period from the 1938 to 1945 era. From I-15 biplane to the Me-262. The one of the interesting moment - you could pilotes the experimental and perspective aircraft ( which was never launched to the serial prodaction like as the soviet Bi-1 with rocket engine!!!).
That’s my favorite La-7 with 3 20-mm gun. Very good wearpon and manevreability.
Anothe tipes of aircraft which are represented in game you can see here http://dp60.narod.ru/HTML/menu/galereya/Samolety/Samolety.htm
Britian, US and Japane also are presented in the Il-2 but in other addon “Perl-Harbor”
My favorite is Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2.
There are so many free aircraft, scenery, missions, and other mods available on the internet.
I have probably downloaded and installed hundreds of free aircraft over the years for this simulator. Much of the downloads were of very high quality - rivaling the stock models. I have saved all of them to CDs. I had also customized my CFS 2 with many of the free mods available (scenery, maps, utilities, missions, etc.).
Yea George Thanks.
I knew the CFS is very excellent thing too. Unfortinatelly i heven’t to play in net becouse i have no licensed version of this game. This is very big pity.
I like the CFS for the a excellent interesting missions in single compain and Net , but the IL-2 has the more detailed and realistic charactiristics of aircraft .
The piloting of aircraft in Il-2 is really hard ( espesially if you play in fully realistic mode).
The whole first week i had tryed to take of to from airfield. The good Joistick is really needed thing in this game.
For the comparision of those two excellent games i wish to notice my personal oppinion - The CFS is more the fascinating and good developed in missions game ,- Il-2 more realistic phisical model of fy and damages.
To be the short - The CFS is more the interesting adventuring arcade , Il-2 is more the simulator.
But of course both those games are the best in its genre
IL-2 probably does have more realistic models. I have not bought the game yet, so I cannot compare.
CFS2 is an older flight simulator, but has been customized extensively and has a much larger / extensive selection of free mods and aircraft, etc. The graphics are still very good.
I also have Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3 (CFS 3) which offers more realistic models (generation after CFS 2), but does not offer the variety of mods and aircraft compared to CFS 2.
Well George I havn’t seen the CF3 yet , is the CFS for the PC or for Console also?
And what’s the system requirements for the normal playing in CFS 3?
ANd what period of aircraft the CFS presents WW2.
You know my favorite dreame to find the combats simulation about Korean air war .
I would wish to fly at the Mig-15 and fight with Sabres.
I know this is possible for the IL developers but this excellent idea still is not realised. Badly.
Don’t you know will this idea developed in CFS engeen or another simulators?
Q: What are the system requirements to play Combat Flight Simulator 3?
A: The following system requirements are the MINIMUM system requirements for playing Combat Flight Simulator 3:
Multimedia PC with Pentium III 400 Mhz equivalent or higher processor with 16 MB 3D video hardware acceleration or better
Microsoft® Windows® 98, Windows® Millennium Edition, Windows® 2000, or Windows XP operating system (Does not support Windows NT®)
64 MB (128 MB for Windows XP)
Approximately 900 MB of available hard disk space; additional 100MB for swap file
Super VGA monitor supporting 800x600 resolutions in 16-bit color
DirectX 8.2 API or later (included on CD and installed during Setup)
DirectX 8.2 or later compatible1 6 MB video card
DirectX 8.2 API compatible sound card with speakers or headphones
Joystick or flight yoke (recommended)
Microsoft® Mouse or compatible pointing device
Sound card with speakers or headphones required for audio
Quad Speed or better CD-ROM drive
Another thing I like about Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2. is it’s versatility.
I have downloaded and installed modern jet aircraft spanning from late WWII through current times, example F-80 Shooting Star, Meteor, DH Vampire, Me 262, F-86 Saber, Mig-15, Mig-17, Mig-21, F-4 Phantom, etc. So, with CFS 2 you can fly aircraft of a different era.
Also, many aircraft from the First World War, like Sopwith Camel, Nieuport 17, Fokker, etc. And you can mix with planes from different time periods.
Note: to fly against additional installed aircraft requires modification of Quick Combat file. There are utilities that you can download that makes the process easier and less time consuming. You can also fine tune the files using notepad.
Nice video clip Panzerknacker (I know you like Nightwish too).
The effects were pretty good, although they seem about the same as CFS 3.
I don’t really see them being better. But then again, I’ve not played IL-2.
Looks pretty good though. I’ll have to buy a copy.
BTW, my CFS 2 had been customized so that the effects were much improved over the standard version (realistic gunsights, smoke and other effects, sounds, weapons, etc.) Also have CSF 3 as mentioned earlier.
Here are some CFS 3 video clips:
Covering planes from different eras.
CFS3 Aces High Video - Battle of Britain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ds7KtZCcwk
Music by Iron Maiden, Game by Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3, Quote by Churchill. Made with Adobe Premier Elements 2.0
Starts off slow, but picks up when the music kicks in
RAF Tornado http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcuYxPFoEFE
The RAF’s potent ground attacker keeps the peace in Flight Simulator 2004/2002 and goes to war in Combat Flight Simulator 3. Virtual aviation enthusiasts can now join the modern-day boys in blue, open the taps and move the mud at Mach 2.2!
This looks interesting:
Theatre of War (PC) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyCbwNqT98o

Well George considering the so called “minimal system requirements” i often have a cases when developer simply deceive the gamers on the commercial reasons.
The “minimal” requirement which they wrote about CST 3 WAS the minimal 3-4 years ago for the medium simulator.
The last addon of IL-2 has( Pacific Figters) system requirements minimal 1 GGz processor and at least 512 Mb memory. The game could start in the lower class PC but it should be rather the slides then the game.
Thanks for the infor about Korean war mod? I will search it in our shops the CFS 2.
Way the from the aircraft of period the WW1 to the Mig-21 - this is really universal simulator game.
This is the holy true ,guys.
The good joistic is the FIRST what you need in the simulator ( if it is really simulator).
Both a CFS and especially IL-2 demands a good ( it is desirable a optical) for the normal plaing.
I/m not sure about effects but the physical model of Il-2 is the best. But unfortinatelly this game has a big lack IMO - the music accompaniiment is the worst. More over the missions sometimes are too boring. I need to fly about 15-25 minuts befor the combat has begin
To the happines in the Il-2 is avialable the very GOOD function - the acceleration/deceleration of time.
BTW Regarding the your clip mate.
If you’d play in the Il-2 you should find the interesting moment -
the right piloted AiraCobra/KingCobra is capable to fuck any Bf-109 in the low/medium altitude. Surprised?
Futhermore the La-7 easy fuc… the any German piston fighter ( including your favorite FW190-A-8) till the 5 000 metres;)
One of the amazing pleasuring in the combat simulator of Il-2 is the war experiments which could help us to study the history and wearpon of ww2.
For instance one of my favorite method - is the to check the different aircraft in the combats which were in the WW2 ( or which COULD BE).
My first attempt was to check WAS the Me-262 really UBER-fighter which could change the motion of war in favor of Germany.
Let’s begin.
The groupe of strategic bombers Pe-8 ( analog of B-17)
The attack has begin when Me-262 reached the speed about 650 km/h.From the right half-sphere, above. distance 300 metres.
4x30-mm gun this is REALLY uber-wearpon. From the short burst of guns the bombers were teared up into pieces.
3 from 4 bombers were destroyed for two minuits. But in the end my Me-262 get the SINGLE bullet into the left engine and Game Over.
Conclusions of mission is mext:
The Me-262 had a excellent power guns . But the unreliable engines didn’t let them to be the Uber-fighter. In 5 cases of gamers attacks in 4 cases (!!!) the Me-262 received the critical damage of engine in the first attack(!!!).
BTW the bombers had no the escort fighter. If the Mustangs were in here the Me-262 should be hited more quickly. And it could be so consentrate to the attack of bombers.
So the IMO the Me-262 could not save the Germany from the air offensive of allies ( but it could to bring them much more casulates if the mass aplication of Me-262 was from the 1943).
Personaly I liked IL-2 better because the graphics were every well done and everything that could go wrong in live combat could go wrong in the game.
But this new game I got, Combat Flight Simulator 3 is very…very…bad, mostly because the graphics look like something from the late 90s. The other thing was that you were not able to explore the cockpit like you could on IL-2. The wingman command system is just a few buttons, attack, defend, spread out, return to formation. It did not give you the ability t command certain planes.
If you ever plan on getting CFS 3…don’t…it’s a waste of frog skins and a waste of time. go to a cheep game dealer and get IL-2. Sometimes, old can be better.
